An event took place on Tuesday, September 18th. It was intended to be positive and solutions focused enabling those invited to offer ideas and to have an equal voice. Often municipal public debates become adversarial rather than productive. Additionally, municipal debates offer limited time to get to know the positions of the candidates, especially when there are many candidates. The concept for this event was created to offer a more constructive dialogue.

Objective

To offer various ideas and solutions from a wide breadth of the community. To get to know the candidates.

FORMAT

Six rooms.

Five sessions of 20 minutes each.

Sessions included the economy, environment, transit, housing, public spaces and vision.

10-12 participants per room.

Participants were asked to sign up for sessions upon arrival.

To start, each participant had 2 minutes each to provide constructive thoughts on the issue.

With the remaining time, participants could ask for an additional 2 minutes.

PARTICIPANTS

The candidates for councillor and mayor were invited.

A limited number of guests were invited to offer various perspectives and to ensure that the sessions are valuable.

Sessions were recorded and shared via this website for all to view.
